• Question: did you want to be a microbiologist when you were in secondary school?

      Not specifically no, I loved science but I don’t think I was really aware about microbes, their roles and significance, or that studying it could be quite so interesting. It was probably only in 3rd year in college that I started settling on microbiology, mainly due to some excellent lecturers that really sparked my interest in it as well as work experience. I think that college courses that have a broad first 2 years and then allow you to pick a specialisation are a really good option for lots of people for this reason.
