      The first step is understanding what is causing the disease. A lot of times it is a protein that is causing the problem. The next step is to identify a drug that will bind to the protein, stopping it causing the problem. After that it is about making sure it is safe (no point making a cure for cancer if it is going to give you a heart attack!)
