• Question: What happens to our brains during sleep paralysis?

      Sleep paralysis occurs during REM sleep (dream sleep). During REM sleep our brain ‘switches off’ our muscles so that our body cannot act out dreams. Our body is shut down by a part of our brain known the brain stem. I hope that helps!
