Question: What happens to our brains during sleep paralysis?
Asked by Elma25 to Aoife on 18 Nov 2019.
answered on 18 Nov 2019:
Sleep paralysis occurs during REM sleep (dream sleep). During REM sleep our brain ‘switches off’ our muscles so that our body cannot act out dreams. Our body is shut down by a part of our brain known the brain stem. I hope that helps!
