  Put my lab coat and gloves on. And turn some music on! We’re not allowed wear earphones recently because of health and safety so I play my music out loud…mainly rap which doesnt suit everyone but I cant work in silence!

  Lab coat and gloves (and goggles in I am working in the pathogen lab). Open my lab notebook, write todays date so I can record the work I’ll do that day. Check our lab rota to see if I am on this week – we take turns to look after housekeeping duties to keep the lab clean and working smoothly. And yes, music, we take turns at picking the music, but can listen to all kinds from classic rock to rap to musicals!
